 Description

Annual to perennial rosette herbs. Hairs eglandular, rough or cobwebby, or 0. Stems branching above. Lvs basal and cauline, entire or dentate or pinnatifid. Capitula several per stem, on long peduncles. Involucral bracts in 2–3 rows, usually hairy; outer bracts = or < inner. Receptacle areolate, glabrous; scales 0. Corolla ligulate, yellow, yellow and purple, or purple. Style branches filiform, yellow. Achenes numerous, dark, cylindric or obconic, not flattened; pappus white or ± sordid, of short hairs, long rigid hairs, or both.
