 Description

Fls axillary, fascicled or solitary; calyx free or adnate to ovary at base, of 4–5 sepals; petals 4–5, ± cucullate, or absent. Stamens 4–5 on short filaments. Disk adnate to ovary to base of calyx. Ovary ± sunk in disk, 3-lobed and 3-loculed; style slender, stigma 3-lobed. Fr. dry, nutlike, separating into 3 cocci; testa coriac. Shrubs or trees with us. rigid branches and opp. lvs.
