 Description

Tufted perennial, 5–25 cm tall; rhizome stout. Lvs rhombic to reniform, shallowly 3–5–(7)-lobed, fleshy, glabrous or hairy, 2–8 cm diam.; lobes often crenate. Fls solitary, 2–3 cm diam.; pedicels erect, usually pilose at least above. Sepals spreading, hairy. Petals 5–10, yellow, narrow, usually < sepals; nectary usually single, c. 5 mm from petal base, naked. Receptacle glabrous. Achenes very numerous, not flattened, glabrous, rarely pilose; body 1.5–2 mm long; beak straight, c. 2 mm long.
