Recognition
  • a small tree with the stems densely covered in fine appressed hairs when young.
  • its opposite leaves are glaucous below and densely covered in fine hairs on both surfaces
  • its flowers are small (2-4 mm long) and numerous and are surrounded by 4 large (20-35 mm long) and whitish or pale yellow bracts.
  • its fruit is a large (2-4 cm wide), red, rounded drupe with two seeds and a wart-like surface.
