 Recognition
  • a densely hairy evergreen shrub up to 3 m high with long thin stems.
  • its leaves clustered toward the stems ends, up to 20 cm long, with a reddish pink leaf stalk.
  • its inflorescence is terminal and pendulous and elongates to be racemose at fruiting.
  • its has long slender flower stalks (5-20 cm long), and the flowers are 5-6 cm long and pink or crimson.
  • its fruit is a shining black berry about 2 cm long.
