 Recognition
  • a small long-lived herbaceous plant forming rosettes of leaves on the ground.
  • its stalkless, hairy leaves are elongated (up to 15 cm long), dull green with dark purple streaks above, and have toothed margins.
  • it produces upright flowering stems (up to 30 cm tall).
  • its flower-heads (3-5) are borne in small dense clusters at the top of the stems.
  • these flower-heads are bright yellow in colour.
