Recognition
  • a herbaceous perennial plant up to 60 cm high with thin, creeping rhizomes, and lower stems rooting at the nodes.
  • its leaves are broad, up to 10 cm long and 6 cm wide, with a rounded base and a pointed tip.
  • its flowers are held above the leaves on short inflorescences and it has conspicuous white bracts that look like petals.
  • its capsule is 2-3 mm and with persistent styles
