 Recognition
  • a robust, erect, tufted, bamboo-like, perennial grass up to 2 m high and with shortly branched rhizomes.
  • its leaf is up to 1.2 m long, pale greenish cream, with fine and flat hairs on the surface.
  • its inflorescence is up to 1.8 m long, and has a large, drooping, straw coloured, flower head.
  • Its seed is 2.5 mm long.
