Synonymy:
Type: NEW ZEALAND. Canterbury, Lincoln, Landcare Research experimental nursery, 2 November 2013, P. B. Heenan s.n. (holotype: CHR 641111; isotypes: AK, CHR 641112, WELT).
Etymology:
The specific epithet cruentum (blood-stained) refers to the dark reddish purple-brown blotches on the leaves that resemble dried blood.
