 Description

Slender herb, often sward-forming. Lvs 2–40 cm. long; ligule rounded to subacute; lamina 0.3–1.5–(2) mm. diam., almost terete and slightly channelled above sheath, flattened towards subacute tip. Raceme c. = peduncle, 1–20 cm. long; pedicels 1–3 mm. long, at rather wide angle to axis. Fls (1)–2 mm. long; stylar tips greenish, slightly spreading. Fr. 2–3 mm. long, subglobose, composed of 3 keeled fertile follicles and 3 narrower sterile carpels, all rather loosely attached to carpophore.
