 Recognition
  • a bamboo forming dense thickets and with rhizomes running extensively from the edges.
  • its leaves are up to 30 cm long, dark green above and green and glaucous beneath.
  • its inflorescence is 3-5 m long, dark green, with usually one branch and 3-5 leaves per node.
  • its spikelets are 4-9 cm long, flattened, and with about 12 florets.
