 Recognition
  • a glabrous perennial with a thick rootstock and slender, climbing stems.
  • its leaves have 5 leaflets and the petioles are coiling and used for climbing.
  • its flowers are solitary, have coloured sepals 8-11 mm long, and 2 scarlet petals 3-6 mm long.
  • its fruit are dark blue and rounded (about 7 mm across).
