 Description

Perennial herbs; stems usually erect, woody towards base. Lvs cauline, alternate. Fls small, usually in corymbose panicles, sometimes appearing umbellate. Calyx tubular, deeply 5-lobed. Corolla tube narrow, > or < lobes. Stamens 5, free. Style long-exserted, thickened towards apex; stigma 2–3-lobed or capitate. Capsule ± obovoid, dehiscing by 2–3 basal pores, angled.
