Etymology:
The Latin word capitatus means ‘with a knob-like head’ (Stearn 1998) and refers to the tightly compacted inflorescence, which appears to be capitate.
 Description

Rosette lvs to 12 × 2.5 cm, covered above with long silky spreading hairs. Lateral branches erect, to 30 cm long; internodes < lvs. Cymes ebracteate, usually branched; fls many and crowded. Corolla deep blue, 4–8 mm diam.; tube cylindric; lobes broad, flat; anther tips about level with scales.
